David Payton Johnson

Mr. David Payton Johnson, 72, of Pine Knoll Drive, Elberton, husband of the late Moina Mathews Johnson, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospice House. Mr. Johnson was born in Royston on August 31, 1941, to Ruth Elizabeth Johnson and the late William W. Johnson. He was a retired hardware salesman and and an employee of Nabisco Cracker Company. David was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Left to cherish his memories are his children, William David Johnson of Salem, Oregon and Lori J. Mayhue and her husband Willie of Elberton; mother, Ruth Johnson of Magnolia Estates, Elberton; grandson, Matthew William Mayhue; sister, Marilyn Smith of Fripp Island, South Carolina; and two nieces, Kymberly McKenzie of Bradenton, Florida and Aimee Smith of Chicago, Illinois. Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, February 9, at 3:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Cecil Bond and Tommy Fields officiating. The family is at the residence on Pine Knoll Drive, will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home immediately following the service and later at the residence.
