Mrs. Deanna Scoggins Amason, of Carlton, Georgia, passed away February 12, 2021 at the age of 78. Deanna was born February 26, 1942 in Allen Park, Michigan to Mell A. and Loretta Robey Scoggins.She grew up in Elberton, and on January 8, 1959 she married the love of her life, Thomas Jacob Amason.Deanna found great joy in being a wife and homemaker, as well as being “Mama” and “Granny De” to many.She dearly loved her family and her church, and was so faithful in serving others. Mrs. Amason is survived by her husband, “Papa Jake” of Carlton; daughters: Lori (Jack) Brazell and Melanie Amason of Carlton; sons: Mark (Tammi) Amason of Elberton, and Greg (Denise) Amason of Carnesville; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild.She also leaves behind a sister, Shelba Scoggins Harvey Seymour (Morris) of Alabama; and three sisters-in-law: Mary Frances Fleeman of Winterville, Gwendolyn Amason of Decatur, and Kitty Scoggins of Hartwell; a brother-in-law, Douglas Sorrow of Carlton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amason was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Benton, and two brothers, Bob Scoggins and John D. Scoggins. A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Glade Methodist Church, Lexington Carlton Rd., Carlton, Georgia. A private funeral service was held by the family, and interment followed in the church cemetery.Pallbearers were Chris Amason, Craig Amason, Greg Amason, Will Amason, Dustin Graham, and Kevin Duggan. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Amason, Jack Brazell, Jeremy Strong, and Bradley Duggan.
