Mrs. Della Elizabeth Smith Burden, 93, of S. Broad Street, Bowman, wife of the late Harold Burden, entered into rest on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Burden was born in Bowman on December 22, 1924, daughter of the late Asa Smith and Carrie Hamby Smith. She was a retired line supervisor having worked in the sewing industry. She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church and a former member of Bowman Baptist Church. “MawMaw”, as she was known by her family, was happiest when gardening and cooking for her family.
Survivors include her son, Michael Burden of Dewy Rose; daughter-in-law, Ferrell (Wade) Bridges of Ozark, MO; son-in-law, Steven Williams of Hull; grandchildren: Jeff (Cindi) Burden, Phillip (Natalie) Burden, Talmadge (Alisa) Janeauxn, Audrey (Phil) Johnson, Hope (Shannon) Teasley, Derrick (Jennifer) Burden, Autumn Burden, and Chloe (Christopher) Meyer; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her children: Harold Wayne Burden, Gary Steven Burden, and Kimberly Ann Burden Williams; and siblings: Helen Harmon, Clyde, J.C., Harold, Thomas Allen, and Blake Smith.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, June 13, at 11 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Dr. Phillip Burden, Dr. Wade Bridges, and Rev. James F. Creason officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family is at the residence of Jeff and Cindi Burden, 904 Elbert Street, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Tuesday evening.
