Dennis Michael Cornell

Mr. Dennis Michael Cornell, 66, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Athens Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Mr. Cornell was born in Franklin County, Georgia to the late Hoke Cornell and Ima Jean McGarity Cornell. He was the husband of Mary Linda Dye Cornell.Mr. Cornell worked with the Georgia Department of Corrections before his retirement. Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife of 41 years: Linda D. Cornell; children: Chris (Letha) Cornell of Elberton; Cathy (Scott) Benson of Bowman; 6 grandchildren, sister: Jennifer Cornell, and several other relatives also survive. Mr. Cornell was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Keith Cornell. A memorial service celebrating Mr. Cornell’s life will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. Flowers will be graciously accepted as well as memorials to one’s charity of choice.
