Dessie Smith Scarborough

Dessie Burt Smith Scarborough, 81, widow of the late Marvin "Tody" Scarborough died Monday August 23, 2010. Born in Oglethorpe County she was a daughter of the late Lindsay Greene Smith and Murty Childs Smith. She was of the Baptist Faith and was retired from the textile industry. Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law Sonny and Joyce Scarborough of Elberton, GA and Dan Scarborough of Seneca, SC, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and four step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister Ethel Smith Lovell and a brother John Lindsay Smith. Funeral services will be held Thursday August 26, at 2PM at the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Jan Thompson and Rev. Phil Keown officiating. Burial will follow in Fortsonia Community Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday night at Berry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Lance Scarborough, Sandy Scarborough, Heath Scarborough, Jeremy Scarborough, Andy Corder, and Jim Corder.
