Miss Destiney Brianna "Desi" Jones, 12, of 1227 Old Hartwell Road, Elberton, went to be with the Lord following a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center in Augusta. Desi was born in Elbert County, July 21, 1998, daughter of Timothy Barker and Krystal Jones Partain. She was an uprising 8th grader at the Elbert County Middle School and attended Fortsonia Baptist Church where she was a member of the youth group. Survivors include her mother, Krystal and Manuel Partain; father, Timmy and Candice Barker; sisters, Brittany and Natalie Barker; brother, Tyler Barker, all of Elberton; grandparents, Bud and Glenda Jones of Elberton, Wendall and Peggy Gunter of Anderson, SC, Larry and Kitty Barker, Manuel and Tracie Partain, and Danny and Delyn Slice, all of Elberton; special great-aunt, Betty J. Daniel "Meme"; loving aunt and uncle, Lewis and Elaine Bailey, all of Elberton; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Funeral services celebrating her life will be 3PM Monday, June 13, at Fortsonia Baptist Church with the Revs. TIm Adams, Al Butler, and Lynn Kellum officiating. She will be laid to rest at Elmhurst Cemetery. The family is at the home of Lewis and Elaine Bailey, 2479 Washington Highway, Elberton, and will receive friends from 6-8PM Sunday night, at Berry Funeral Home. Pallbearers will include Patrick Adams, Jamie Head, Nathan Fleming, Josh Mills, Stan Mills, Brian Gunter, Chad Algood, and Colby Jones. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in her honor to an Osteosarcoma Foundation. The family would like to thank the staff at the Medical College of Georgia Children's Medical Center for their kind and loving care shown to Desi and her family.
