Diane Baston Abernathy

Diane Baston Abernathy, 67, of the Middle River Community, Carnesville, passed away Tuesday morning, April 7, 2020, at her home.

Born December 8, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Claude O’Neal and Verna “Bunny” Grace Jennings Baston. She was a retired broker with Buchanan Trucking Company. She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Terry Abernathy Allen Clem Abernathy; two sons, Nicky Allen (Kecia) James, Elberton, and Travis Jeffery James, member of U S Navy aboard USS Harry Truman; daughter Tammy Diane James (Shad) Wilson, Carnesville, GA; brother, Jessie M. “Mike” (Vickie) Baston, Elberton, GA; grandchildren, Michael & Hope Wilson, Cody & Cassidy James, Kaytlin & Will Ballenger, Emily Thomas, Amy Thomas, and Willie Thomas Jr.

Private family graveside services will be Thursday afternoon at 2pm at the Riverside Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Paul Jameson.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to Riverside Baptist Church at 215 Atkinson Bridge Rd, Royston, GA 30662 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Ginn Funeral Home of Carnesville is in charge of arrangements.
