Mr. Don Carlos Scurlock, Jr., 79, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at his residence in Hartwell, Georgia after a brief illness.
Don was born on May 3, 1945, to Don Carlos Scurlock, Sr. and Georgie Lee Halstead Scurlock in East St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, Florida and Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a fifth grade school teacher having retired from Citrus Elementary School. Having served his Vero Beach community faithfully, Don was former Mayor of Vero Beach and sat on the Indian River County Commission for twelve years. He was Catholic by faith and an avid outdoorsman. Don was always one to stay active and loved playing pickleball, golf, and racquet ball.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Ann Bagwell Scurlock and four daughters: Georgianne and Tony Miller of Alabama, Christi Scurlock of Texas, Allison and James Gomez of Florida, and Susan and Adam Werner of Florida. He was the proud grandfather to Bayleigh, Kaitlyn, and Kathyrn and great-grandfather to Easton, Harper, and Amelia.
