Donald Judson Bettis

Donald Judson Bettis, age 84, of Flat Rock, NC passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. 

Born on July 11, 1940, in Elberton, GA, he was the son of the late JB Bettis and Marion Higginbotham Vaughn, and a 1958 graduate of Elberton High School. 

Donald was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he had been stationed in Germany. He was an avid golfer who had a deep passion for the game and an outstanding Billiards player. He also enjoyed going fishing. Donald retired after 35 years from Duke Energy. He was also a former member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, JB Bettis and Marion Higginbotham Vaughn, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Dot, Elnoir, and Jim. Left to cherish his memory include his sons, Dirk Bettis and Jason Bettis; his daughter, Krystal Schroeder and husband, Dan; grandchildren: Sarah, Michael, and Chloe; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at his home in Flat Rock, NC and announced at a later date.
