Donald Rayle Hudson, Sr.

Mr. Donald Rayle Hudson, Sr., 81, husband of 63 years to Elizabeth Higginbotham Hudson, passed away peacefully at his residence in the Fortsonia Community of Elberton late Tuesday night, November 10, 2015. Mr. Hudson was born in Elbert County on February 4, 1934, to the late Albert Rayle Hudson, Jr. and Frances Bell Hudson. He was a member of Fortsonia Baptist Church and served at Chief of Fortsonia Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years. Mr. Hudson was an avid outdoorsman, having farmed his entire life, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Liz, of the home; sons and their wives: Donnie and Anita Hudson and Billy and Donna Hudson, all of the home; grandchildren and their spouses: Chris and Kayla Hudson, Amanda and Justin Fortson, Wade Johnson, and Candice Johnson; and great-grandchildren: Jackson, Will, Mattison, Charles, Easton, and Sadie Rae. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Elizabeth Hudson Finley; and infant twin brothers. Graveside funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday morning, November 12, at 11:00a.m. in Fortsonia Community Cemetery with Mr. Darryl Huntsinger and Rev. Jay Akin officiating. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday evening.
