Donna Lee Blackmon Seymour

Donna Lee Blackmon Seymour, of Pleasant Hill Road, Elberton, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 10, 2013, just 10 days after her 43rd birthday. Donna was born at Elbert Memorial Hospital on April 30, 1970, to Ronnie and Lynn Hill Blackmon. She operated an in-home daycare for many years and later became Administrator at Heardmont Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Donna was president of the Elberton Kiwanis Club, served on the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, the Foundation's Young Professional Advisory Board, and the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce Board. She organized Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation’s Jack Frost Jump and Womanless Beauty Pageant for the past two years. You never saw Donna without a smile on her face or a twinkle in her eye. She is survived by her husband, Denny Wayne Seymour, Jr. of the home; children, Jayce Seymour, Brayden Seymour, and Kylie Seymour, all of Elberton; grandson and light of her life, Jackson Black; parents, Ronnie and Lynn Blackmon of Elberton; brother, Kevin Blackmon and his wife Courtney of Elberton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Denny W., Sr. and Gail Seymour of Bowman; nieces and nephews, Karson, Tyler, Cadence, Georgia, DJ, Haylee, Hayden, and Hadley; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Clifton B. “Pete” and Etrulia Brewer Hill and Robert L. Blackmon and Sara Wallace Blackmon Butler. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 11:00a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Revs. Tim Adams and David McConnell officiating. Interment will be in the Hill Family Cemetery in Homer, GA with Chad Blackmon, Dusty Smith, Michael Smith, Donny Seymour, Blake Young, and Shayne Bennett honored as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home beginning at 6:00p.m. on Monday evening. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence of Ronnie and Lynn Blackmon, Bowman Highway, Elberton. In lieu of flowers, Donna requested donations be made to a special fund at Pinnacle Bank, 884 Elbert Street, Elberton, GA 30635 in her memory to benefit the Fragile X Foundation in Atlanta.
