Mr. Donnie Lamar "Don" Looney, 74, of Chipshot Lane, Elberton, husband of Faye ‘Ann’ Higginbotham Looney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Don was born in Elberton on March 3, 1949, only child of the late Connie Wilson “C.W.” Looney and Annie Evelyn Witcher Looney. He was a 1967 graduate of Elbert County High School and furthered his education at the University of Georgia. Don served his country faithfully in the Georgia National Guard. Don was a longtime member of Calvary Presbyterian Church and an accountant having retired from Honeywell after 37 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, bass fishing, and playing a round of golf. Don never missed an opportunity to be on the sidelines at his children's sporting events or to support them in any endeavor in which they were participating. The highlight of his retirement was spending time with his youngest granddaughter, Bree.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 43 years, Faye ‘Ann’ Higginbotham Looney; children: Natalie Dixon and her husband Stan of Elberton and Jason Vincent and his wife Jessica of Atlanta; and grandchildren: Missouri, Jake, Cole, Julia Kate, and Bree.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 14, from 2:00-3:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Memorial services will follow at 3:30p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Mr. Tommy Fields and the Rev. John Moore officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery.
