Donnie Ray Carroll, Sr.

Mr. Donnie Ray Carroll, Sr., age 85, of Jaudon Road, Elberton, GA, husband of 62 years to Dora Eades Carroll, entered into rest on Friday morning, February 24, 2023, at his daughter’s home.

Mr. Carroll was born in Elberton, GA on September 19, 1937, son of the late L.M. Carroll and Macon Caldwell Haynes Carroll. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served his country faithfully during the Korean era, and worked most of his life as a stone cutter in the granite industry. Donnie loved sharing the gospel of Christ and read his bible daily. He loved being with his church family, River of Life Church, as long as his health permitted. His favorite past times included camping, fishing, and playing guitar and harmonica.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Dora, include his daughters: Rochelle McCaslan Wallis and her husband Jimmy of Calhoun Falls, SC and Natalie McCannon of Elberton, GA; grandchildren: Grant McCaslan and his wife Macon of Greenwood, SC, Everette Seymour of Elberton, GA, Garrett Seymour and his wife Amy of Gainesville, GA, Chase Seymour and his wife Leah of Lawrenceville, GA, Max McCaslan of Calhoun Falls, SC, Daniel Carroll and his wife Hannah of Cherokee, NC, and Allie McCannon of Elberton, GA; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Donnie Ray Carroll, Jr.; grandson, Ross Patrick McCaslan; and siblings: Roger Carroll, Shirley Carroll, Melvin Carroll, and infant Charles Carroll.

Funeral services celebrating Donnie’s life will be held at 3 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, February 26, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Buffington officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00-2:45p.m. prior to the service on Sunday afternoon.
