Dora Mercer Brown

Mrs. Dora Harris Mercer Brown, 95, of Harmony Rd., Elberton passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Mrs. Brown was born June 24, 1921 in Elberton, GA to Lawrence Daniel Harris and Martha Hall Harris. She was of the Methodist Faith a homemaker and was twice married first to the late William J. "Billy" Mercer and second to the late William S. "Bud" Brown. Dora and Bud were campground hosts on Lake Hartwell. She enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with her family. She loved being in the kitchen cooking favorites for all. Her favorite thing on the outside was the time of the year planting tomato plants and getting on her lawnmower cutting grass. While she was able, camping and being around the campfire among friends was so much fun. She liked keeping up with the grand's and great-grand's knowing what they had going on in their lives.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and James Turner of Elberton, GA, Mildred and Wayne Mullenix of Elberton, GA, her only surviving sister: Jenny Parks of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren: Allen Turner, Michael Turner, Celina Brown, Stephen Turner and eight great-grandchildren and a circle of friends.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 3PM, Monday, April 10 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Martin and Rev. Anne Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Allen Turner, Michael Turner, Stephen Turner, Celina Brown, Mark Brown and Butch Mixon serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gatlin Brown, Chesnee Brown, Logan Turner, Lex Turner, Cassie Turner, Andy Turner, Brady Turner, Blake Turner, Alyssa Hunt, Chloe Hunt, Kaitlyn Hunt and Tabitha Hunt.

The family will receive friends from 1-3PM just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.
