Doris Louise Kidd Dixon

Mrs. Doris Louise Kidd Dixon, 85, of Seymour Road, Bowman, wife of the late James Horace “Jimmy” Dixon, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at her brother’s residence.

Mrs. Dixon was born in Bowman on August 11, 1937, and lived all of her life there. She was a graduate of Bowman High School where she played basketball. After working at Wright Manufacturing Company, she opened a grocery store and florist in Bowman. Doris was a lifelong member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Talmadge Kidd and Mae Bell Moon Kidd; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Hugh Talmadge Kidd, Robert Donald Kidd, Sr., Jane Marie Ashworth Kidd, and Juanita Peck Kidd.

Survivors include her brother and caretaker, Roger Kidd of Bowman; sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Wayne Teasley of Bowman; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services celebrating Doris’s life will be held on Friday, April 7, at 3 o’clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery.

At Mrs. Dixon’s request, there will be no visitation.
