Doris Ridgeway Whitworth

Mrs. Doris Daniel Ridgeway Barnes Whitworth, 92, of Ruckersville Road, Elberton, entered into rest on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center. Mrs. Whitworth was born in Elbert County on August 31, 1922, to the late Henry and Ruby Robinson Daniel. She was a retired LPN from Elbert Memorial Hospital and a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memories are her eight children: Darrell Ridgeway and Patti of Williamston, SC, Tom Ridgeway and Alice of Macon, GA, Janice Tomlin and Gary of Columbus, GA, Karen Sanders Greenway and Richard of Elberton, GA, Patti Berryman and Wendall of Elberton, GA, Teresa Hudgins and Gene of Elberton, GA, Valerie Brooks and Ed of Elberton, and Steve Ridgeway of Calhoun Falls, SC; 27 grandchildren, 100 great-grandchildren, many great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three husbands, Jack Ridgeway, Gaines Barnes, and Tommy Whitworth; one son, Ernest Ridgeway; three grandchildren; and siblings: Sibyl Johnson, Edna Griffin, Loretta Moss, Lillian Jones, Norris Daniel, Bernice Daniel, and Herman Daniel. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, March 29, at 2:00p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberton with Eric Berryman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church at 1:00p.m. to lie instate until the service hour. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Saturday evening.
