Dorothy Edwards "Dot" Drennan, 92, of 128 Myrtle Street, Elberton, wife of the late Harry Agurs Drennan, Sr., passed away Saturday afternoon, August 4, 2012, at Spring Valley Health Care Center. Mrs. Drennan was born in Elbert County, September 14, 1919, to the late Clark Edwards, Jr. and Jewette Webb Edwards. She was a member of Elberton First United Methodist Church, a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, and a retired clerk from the Elbert County Probate Court. Left to cherish her memories are her sons, Harry Agurs Drennan, Jr. of New York, New York, William Edwards Drennan of Elberton, Frank Miller Drennan of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Robert Clark Drennan of Anderson, South Carolina; siblings, Carolyn McMullan of Elberton and James Clark Edwards of Arlington, Virginia; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Donald Parks Drennan; and siblings, Charlotte Cleveland, Jackie Veal Terlaje, and Charles E. Edwards. Mrs. Drennan's wishes were to be cremated and a private memorial service will be held Thursday, August 9, at the family lot in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 128 Myrtle Street, between the hours of 1:00PM and 4:00PM Thursday afternoon. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in her honor to United Hospice of Athens, 435 Hawthorne Avenue, Athens, Georgia 30606 or to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, Georgia 30605.
