Dorothy Hardy Fortson

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Hardy Fortson, 93, of Elberton, GA, passed away Monday evening, February 20, 2012 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fortson was born in Washington, GA, to the late Charles Alexander and Phoebe Moore Hardy.She was the widow of the late William Deadwyler Fortson,and assisted him through the years in their family business, Fortson’s, Inc. in Elberton.Through the years, Mrs. Fortson was active in many community and civic organizations.She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Elberton. Mrs. Fortson is survived by a son, William D. Fortson, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie,of Covington, GA;two granddaughters: Stephanie Fortson Langford and Ellen Hardy Fortson, both of Atlanta, GA;and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. atElmhurst Cemetery with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. The family respectfully requests that flowers please be omitted.
