Dorothy 'Dot' Jones

Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Jones, 85, of Elberton, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Jones was born in Elbert County, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Ada Whitfield Bowman.She was married to the late Walter H. Jones, and enjoyed a career of nursing at Elbert Memorial Hospital in the Labor, Delivery, and Nursery for 24 years. Mrs. Jones is survived by her children: Joyce Martin (Ron) of Bowman, Kenneth Jones of Auburn, Larry Jones (Linda) of Watkinsville, and Ray Jones (Alexandra) of Marietta. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by eight siblings. A service to celebrate Mrs. Jones’ life was held in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home on Thursday, July 10, 2014 with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating.Visitation was Wednesday evening, July 9 at Hicks Funeral Home and also just prior to the service.Interment followed at Elmhurst Cemetery.
