Dorothy Ruff Welch

Mrs. Dorothy Ruff Welch, 88, of Country Club Rd., Elberton, GA wife of the late James Clark “Yank” Welch passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Piedmont Athens Hospital.

Mrs. Welch was born June 22, 1932 in Elberton, GA to Sanford Ruff and Henrietta Burt Ruff. She was a member of Falling Creek Baptist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, flowers and had a great love for children.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Janet and Kenneth Atkinson of Griffin, GA, James “Jim” and Michele Welch of Elberton, GA, Myra and Larry Willis of Lawrenceville, GA; siblings: Bo Ruff of Elberton, GA, Betty Melton of Winterville, GA, Jerry Ruff of Elberton, GA, grandchildren: Tara Dobbs, Marshall Willis, great-grandchildren: Audrianna Atkinson, Kimberly and Clayton Watkins and great-great-grandchildren: Ayden Watkins and Dawson Watkins.

Graveside funeral services will be held 2PM, Wednesday, February 24, at Forest Hills Memorial Park with Rev. Douglas Huff officiating and Marshall Willis, Scott Ruff, Gene Claypool, Jimmy Claypool, Greg Ruff, Allen Herndon, Mike Webb and Jeff Lyle serving as pallbearers.

The family will greet friends and family graveside following the service. Face masks are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested to please make memorials in her memory to Falling Creek Baptist Church.
