Mrs. Dorothy Wade Gaines, 88, of Pembroke Circle, Elberton, wife of 63 years to Albert Marion “Mutt” Gaines, Sr. passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018.
Mrs. Gaines was born in Dekalb County, November 15, 1929, to Charles Eugene Wade and Mary Eva Stephenson Wade. She was retired from the food service industry and was a member of Elberton First Baptist Church.
She is survived by three children and their spouses: Lynn and Terry Sanders of Athens, Patricia and Danny Gaines of Elberton, and Albert Marion, Jr. and Chris Gaines of Norcross; grandchildren, Julie K. Gaines, Joy E. Gaines, Jan G. and Michael Heiser, Beth Sanders, Catherine S. and Miguel Del Rio, and Lissa G. and Adam Landis; 6 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and brothers: George Wade and Wayne Wade.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by siblings: William Thomas Wade, Sarah Wade Beam, Willard Wade, Doris Wade Prince Moore, Harold Wade, and Janie Wade Smith.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 27, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Mark Wade, Barry Moon, Russ Wade, Dean Butler, Phil Jenkins and Ed Newman serving as pallbearers. The Gaines family is at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11AM Saturday just before the service at Berry Funeral Home.
In lieu flowers memorials may be made in her memory to the Ramp Fund at the Elberton First Baptist Church, 132 Heard Street, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
