Mr. Arthur Douglas "Doug" Wilhite, 85, husband of the late Lucille Brown Wilhite passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mr. Wilhite was born September 21, 1930 in Elberton, GA to the late Linton Herschel Wilhite, Sr. and Sallie Mae Anderson Wilhite. He was a member of Believers Baptist Church, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, a retired School bus driver and crane operator in the granite industry. Left to cherish his memories are daughters Robin Bonds of Elberton, GA, Lisa (Mike) Johnson of Calhoun Falls, SC, Darlene (Curt) Gable of Abbeville, SC, Renee Jones of Elberton, GA, sister-in-law Nola Wilhite of Elberton, GA, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by step-sons Dallas Melvin Jones, Bobby Dwayne Jones, siblings Wallace "Dolly" Wilhite, Lin Wilhite, Jean Mallard, Fran Gardner, Grace Burnside, granddaughter Tiffany Marie Bonds and great-grandson Jack Vernon Johnson. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held 2PM, Friday March 4 at Believers Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Dotson and Rev. Larry Hargrove officiating. Mr. Wilhite will be placed in the church from 1-2PM to lie in state just prior to the service. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery with Scott Bonds, Mikey Johnson, Derek Johnson, Carson Johnson, Jay Cook, Steve Gaines, Jeremy Dotson and Zach Gaines serving as pallbearers. The family is at the home of Lisa and Mike Johnson, 479 Simpson St. Ext. Calhoun Falls, SC and will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday night at Berry Funeral Home. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in Doug's honor to Believers Baptist Church. Berry Funeral Home & Crematory, Elberton is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Arthur Douglas "Doug" Wilhite.
