Born in Statesboro on June 13, 1967, he was the eldest child of Douglas Burke Bond, Sr. and the late Katherine Patricia “Pat” Larsen Bond. Douglas was a 1985 graduate of Elbert County High School and furthered his education at Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State. He obtained a degree in computer science from Athens Technical College, of which he was very proud. Douglas was a computer whiz who spent his career installing various computer systems.
Douglas was a very artistic person who enjoyed drawing and painting. At the age of 13, he won a contest designing the very first flag for Elbert County. He enjoyed various genres of music, was always reading a good book, and never missed an opportunity to expand his scientific knowledge.
