Dr. Larry Ray Hart, Sr., MD, 61, of Dr. George Ward Road, Elberton, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at his residence. Dr. Hart was born in Anderson, South Carolina, September 24, 1951, he was the beloved son of Phillip Lee and Leila Inez Campbell Hart. He was a graduate of Elbert County High School, Emmanuel College, University of Georgia, and Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Hart began his medical practice in South Carolina and later served as Medical Director at Ridgeview Hospital in Atlanta. Prior to becoming disabled, his medical practice was at Elbert Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church. He is survived by his children, Larry Ray Hart, Jr. of Elberton, Laurie Combs and her husband Jacob of Summerville, SC, and Georgia Rae Hart of Atlanta; parents, Pastor Phillip and Leila Inez Hart of Elberton; grandchildren, Taylor Hart, Caroline Combs, Harrison Kashlan, Madison Combs, and Savannah Hart; sister, Gloria and her husband Dr. Tony Moon of Franklin Springs; and nephew, Matthew Moon of Franklin Springs. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Saturday, June 1, at 4:00p.m. in the Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church with Dr. Hugh Morgan, Dr. Tony Moon, Rev. John Ingam, and Col. Charles Dixon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Dr. Hart will be placed in the church at 3:00p.m. to lie in state until the service hour. The family is at the home of his parents, Dr. George Ward Road, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. Friday evening. Flowers are optional and memorials may be made in his memory to Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church or to the charity of one's choice.
