Earl Looney

Mr. Earl Looney, 78, of Oglethorpe Ave. Athens, GA passed away Friday, August 27, 2021.

He was born May 17, 1943 in Danielsville, GA to Luther Albert Looney and Liberty Belle Scoggins Looney. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran where he was injured and was awarded a Purple Heart. He had previously worked as a diesel mechanic, Gold Kist and was a campground host at Bobby Brown State Park in Elberton, GA.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Patricia and Steve Carter of Athens, GA, Pamela and Rodney Brown of Danielsville, GA; son: Ricky Looney of Comer, GA, grandchildren: Aressa and Richard Patterson of Ila, GA, Rena Shelton of Athens, GA, Terry and Alison Shelton of Comer, GA, Justin and Megan Sorrow of Comer, GA, Chasity and Jeffrey Hicks of Boerne, TX, Dean Lunsford of Danielsville, GA, Christina and Bradley Tillman of Elberton, GA, Justin Lunsford of Danielsville, GA, Dylan Shelton of Athens, GA, Kirsten and Max Jones of Hartwell, GA, Devin and Brittany Shelton of Toccoa, GA, Christopher and Hannah Hysinger of Hartwell, GA, Tyler Barnett of Carlton, GA, Amber Barnett of Danielsville, GA, twenty-three great-grandchildren; brothers: Luther Looney of Comer, GA, Grady Looney of Colbert, GA; sister: Edna Campbell of Commerce, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Joseph Looney.

The family will receive friends from 2PM to 5PM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Berry Funeral Home and at other times the family is at the home 540 Oglethorpe Ave. Apt.105 Athens, GA 30606.
