Edith Gilliam Franklin

Mrs. Edith Gilliam Franklin, 88, of Shelton Ave., Elberton, GA wife of the late Charles Haley Franklin passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Franklin was born October 22, 1927 in Anderson, SC to the late David Garnett Gilliam and Cecil Gilliam. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton and was a retired seamstress.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Michael "Mike" and Carol Franklin of Elberton, GA; two grandchildren and their spouses Christopher and Jamie Franklin and Kimberly and Clint Carter; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son William "Billy" H. Franklin, a brother Billy Gilliam and a sister Helen Louise Motte.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held 1PM, Wednesday September 7 in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Luther Mahoney officiating. Interment will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will be at the home 507 Shelton Ave., Elberton and will receive friends from 12-1PM Wednesday just prior to the service at Berry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested to please make memorials in her honor to Samaritans Purse, PO Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607.
