Edwin Johnson Booth, Sr.

Edwin Johnson “Ed” Booth, Sr., 71, of 407 E. Church Street, Elberton, husband of Gay Cleveland Booth, died on Saturday, May 08, 2010 at his home. Born on March 3, 1939 in Elbert County, he was a son of Henry “H.V.” Booth and the late Sara Dickerson Booth. Mr. Booth was a 1956 graduate of Hart County High School and a 1960 graduate of the University of Georgia.He practiced pharmacy for 30 years and founded Bluestone Quarries, Inc. in 1985. He was a member of the Elberton First United Methodist Church. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by a brother, Virgil W. Booth. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Gay Cleveland Booth; daughter and son-in-law, Leslie Booth and Mark Wallace; sons, Edwin Johnson “John” Booth, Jr. and Clayton Cleveland Booth; father, H.V. Booth; and grandchildren, Evan Johnson Booth and Mary Claire Cleveland Wallace. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11AM from the Elberton First United Methodist Church with Reverend Wayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10-11AM just prior to the service at the Elberton First United Methodist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home, 407 E. Church Street, Elberton. Pallbearers will include Cal Harrison, Jimmy McDonald, David Giannoni, Ray Sims, Brantley McIntosh, and Rick Higginbotham. Honorary pallbearers will include Thomas McCannon, Gene Sokol, Charles Grimes, and Bill Boswell. The family respectfully requests no flowers, and memorials may be made in his honor to the Elberton First United Methodist Church Building Fund. Hicks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Edwin Johnson “Ed” Booth, Sr.
