Mrs. Effie Lee Brooks, 89, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Brooks was born in Elbert County to the late Charlie and Mary Ann Brown Harbert.She worked in the textile industry for Rocky River Mills until her retirement.Mrs. Brooks was twice married, first to the late Clifford Davis, and then to the late Ed Brooks. She was a longtime member of Harmony Baptist Church. Mrs. Brooks is survived by her children: Betty J. Wilder (Jimmy) of Elberton, Shirley Zimmerman (Larry) of Dearing, and Earl Davis (Lovisa) of Dewy Rose.She also leaves behind grandchildren:Allen Wilder, Betty Diane Canady, James Childers, Peggy Andrews, Debbie Fekete, Kathy Durbin, J.J. Davis, and Clifford Davis; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brooks was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Fred Harbert, J.B. Harbert, Billy Harbert, Dorothy Jones, and Rosabelle Hudson. A service to celebrate Mrs. Brooks’ life was held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Lynn Kellum and Mr. Larry Zimmerman officiating.A time of visitation was on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.Interment was at Elmhurst Cemetery.
