Elizabeth Ann Mclanahan Knell

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann McLanahan Knell, age 99, of 241 Church Street, Elberton, passed away onThursday, September 4, 2014. A native of Elberton, she died of natural causes at home.   She was a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton where she was a member of the Alpha Louree Sunday School Class. She was an avid bridge player who played up until last week and also enjoyed playing BINGO at Wendy's.  She was the chief dietician at Central Elementary for about 25 years. She was the daughter of the late John W. and Bertie T. McLanahan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Robert L. Knell, Sr.; sister, Virginia M. Parker; brother, Zack W. McLanahan; daughter-in-law, Janice B. Knell; and granddaughter, Karen L. Knell.  She is survived by her children: Robert L. Knell, Jr. of Stone Mountain and Karma K. McMullan and her husband William O. McMullan, Jr. of Elberton; one nephew; one niece; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.  Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 7, at 3:00p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberton. The family is at the residence and will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall at the First Baptist Church of Elberton.
