Elston Bond

J. Elston Bond, 87, of 2146 Harmony Road, Elberton, husband of 65 years to the late Jacquelyn Greenway Bond, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Spring Valley Health Care Center. Mr. Bond was born in Elbert County, July 16, 1925, to the late Jacob Easton and Nancy Perkins Bond. He was a former employee of Anderson Auto Parts, owner of Bond’s Machine and Auto Parts, and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Left to cherish his memories are children, Carolyn B. Bond and her husband Charles of Goldmine, Ann B. Haltom and her husband Steve of Elberton, and Allen Bond; brother, Bob Bond of Elberton; four grandchildren, Eddie Bond, Skip Bond and his wife Tara, Mark Haltom and his wife Tiffany, and J.W. Haltom and his wife Brooke; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by siblings, Eula Mae Mann, Ethlyn Marlow, and Harleston Bond. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held Saturday, April 27, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Reverend Wayne Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons, Matt Rorick, and Kris Mercer serving as pallbearers. The family is at the residence of Steve and Ann Haltom, 2476 Hartwell Highway, Elberton, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. Friday evening. Mr. Bond loved flowers and floral arrangements are greatly appreciated by the family. Those desiring may make contributions to Concord United Methodist Church.
