Emily Jane Hinely Sewell

Emily Jane Hinely Sewell, 71, of Colbert, passed away suddenly but peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at her residence.

Emily was born in Augusta on July 5, 1953, daughter of the late Lewis Joshua Hinely, Sr. and Marianne Armstrong Hinely. Following graduation from high school, she furthered her education at the University of Georgia. Emily’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, and she truly loved time spent with each of them, and sharing with them her love of nature.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Edward Sewell; sons: Jonas Ryan Sewell and his wife Debra of Ridgeway, SC and Joshua Lee Sewell of Colbert; grandchildren who adored their “Nana”: Malachi, Josiah, Hunter, Emberly, and Everett; and siblings: Martha Ellen Adams and her husband Mark and Lewis Joshua Hinely, Jr. and his wife Patsy; and a host of other relatives and beloved friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ann Hinely Fairey.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
