Emory Joe Anderson, Sr.

Mr. Emory Joe Anderson, Sr., 81, of Heard Drive, Elberton, husband of Betty Gober Anderson, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Anderson was born in Elbert County on December 1, 1933, to the late Raymond Joe and Ruby Ruth Floyd Anderson. He was a member of Concord United Methodist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and a member of Philomathea Masonic Lodge. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Gober Anderson of Elberton; children: Emory Joe Anderson, Jr. of Braselton and Debra Cook of Snellville; grandchildren: Justin, Jeremy, Katie, Krista, Jacob, and Corey; sister, Rebecca Mercer Sigman her husband Tom of Elberton; and two nephews and one niece: Andy Eavenson, John Mercer, and Judy Mills. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Vesta Anderson, Vera Anderson, Josephine and Horace Eavenson, and Marshall Mercer. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, December 4, at 11:30a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis and Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy. The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00p.m. on Wednesday evening. Flowers are optional; contributions may be made in his memory to Concord United Methodist Church, 2503 Harmony Road, Elberton, Georgia 30635.
