Erlene Beulah Voyles Burden

Mrs. Erlene Beulah Voyles Burden, 74, of Elberton, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at her home.A native of Dawsonville, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lewis R. and Beulah Evans Voyles.Having also been preceded in death by 3 brothers and 7 sisters, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Mrs. Burden was retired from Johnson and Johnson.She loved people and all her family in particular and always enjoyed fishing.She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Lee Henry Burden; Sons and daughters in law, Steve and Debra Burden and Tony and Kristi Burden; Grandchildren, Kent Burden, Josh Burden, Sam Burden, Erica Burden, Lauren Lamb and Toni Evans; 12 great grandchildren plus 1 expected. Mrs. Burden lay in state on Thursday, July 2nd from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.A funeral service began at 11:00a.m. in the chapel with Rev. Lynn Kellum officiating.Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery with Darrin Baxter, David Evans, Brad Burden, Josh Burden, Kenny Kellum, Paul Vaughn and Jacy Burden serving as pallbearers. WE WILL BE ENCOURAGING SOCIAL DISTANCING AND THE FAMILY REQUEST THAT EVERYONE ATTENDING WEAR A MASK. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to T J & Friends, P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635. Arrangements for Mrs. Erlene Voyles Burden were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
