Mr. Ernest Dean Dye was born on July 12, 1947, and the Lord called him home on January 1, 2024. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lois Frances Oglesby; sisters: Jessie Mae Oglesby and Brenda J. Davis; and brother, Ora T. Allen. 

He leaves to cherish his memories four sisters: Dorothy Davis, Virginia Bolden, Patricia Gary, Jeannette Clark, and Jettie Tate; one brother, James H. Allen; and a host of family and friends. Ernest was an all around great guy. 

He was a graduate of Trinity High School in Decatur, GA. Upon graduating, Ernest went into the Army where he served with he 11th Infantry Brigade as a jungle warrior. He served two tours in Vietnam as a trooper. Ernest was rewarded two Purple Hearts, Certificate of Achievement in South Vietnam, and Army Commendation Medal. After leaving the Army, Ernest moved to Inkster, MI where he received his culinary school certificate from Wayne County Community College. A licensed chauffeur, Ernest enjoyed helping the elderly with taxes and transportation, and enjoyed volunteering at the local food bank.

Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, January 10, at 1:00p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home.
