Evelyn Lee Dixon

Mrs. Evelyn Lee Dixon, 82, of Washington Highway, Elberton, wife of the late James Albert Dixon, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021, at Nancy Hart Nursing Center.

Evelyn was born in Elberton on December 27, 1938, daughter of the late Roscoe Lee Dixon and Nancy Virginia Lykins Dixon. She was a 1956 graduate of Elbert County High School and retired from Elberton County Department of Family and Children Services after many years of service. She was a member of Eliam United Methodist Church where she sang alto in the choir. Evelyn loved the outdoors, gardening, dancing, singing, and being with her family.

She was a devoted mother to her children: James Harold “Jim” Dixon and his wife Shan of Elberton and Amy Dixon Yellott and her husband Daniel of Suwanee. Her favorite title was being “Nana” to Dixon Yellott, Delaney Yellott, Daryl Osborne, and Kelsey Osborne. She is also survived by her sisters: Martha Campbell of Suwanee and Diane Hansen of Columbia, SC.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe Lee Dixon and Nancy Virginia Lykins Dixon; husband, James Albert Dixon; and grandson, Dixon Yellottt.

Graveside services celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, April 29, at 4 o’clock at Forest Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. John Moore officiating.
