Fe Pinero Fortson

Mrs. Fe Piñero Fortson, beloved wife of Haley W. Fortson of Elberton, left this earth on Feb. 20, 2021 at her home with her family in attendance. A Memorial Service to celebrate Fe’s life was held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Father Rafael Castaño officiating.A time of visitation for family and friends began at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment of cremains followed at Fortsonia Community Cemetery. Fe was born in Dumaguete City, Philippines. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sabina Arbon and Dionesio Piñero Sr. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Dr Dionesio Piñero, Victor Piñero, and Manuel Piñero. Fe attended the National University in Manila, Philippines where she received a degree in Chemical Engineering. She came to Georgia in 1967. She attended the University of Georgia and received a degree in Education. She worked for the Elbert County School System as a teacher for 28 years. Fe was a remarkable woman who had many talents. She was an amazing cook, an avid gardener, a gifted seamstress and a skilled carpenter. Fe was kind, generous and loving. She was a source of strength and reason for her family. In addition to her husband of almost 40 years, Haley W. Fortson, Fe is also survived by two daughters, Rebecca Fortson and Mary Ellen Fortson; and her granddaughter, Haley Brooke Yahn, who loved her Lola so very much. She is also survived by her siblings, Niceta Brown (Tyler-dec.) of Lilburn GA, Monina Piñero, Nahuma Piñero, and Nickleson Piñero (Carina), all of Dumaguete City, Philippines. She has many loving nieces and nephews located in several countries as well. Arrangements for Mrs. Fe Fortson were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
