Mrs. Frances Barringer Chidester passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 in Augusta, Georgia.She was the widow of Marvin E. Chidester and the daughter of Luther E. and Margaret Harris Barringer. Frances was a retired nurse and anesthetist who spent 40 years in service to Elberton and Elbert County at the office of Dr. John B. O’Neal and at Elbert Memorial Hospital. She was a great encourager and mentor to so many who came behind her in the nursing profession.She loved her work, and those she helped were truly blessed to know her. Frances was a loving and kind wife, mother, and grandmother.One of her greatest joys was to share her grandchildren’s accomplishments, with Emily’s fame as “Emily the Engineer” and Luke’s musical talents.Her recent time spent with her family was such a blessing to her.Frances was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and The Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Chidester is survived by her daughter, Anne C. Yarid and husband, Don, of North Augusta, SC.She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Emily Yarid Harwell and husband, Jonathan, and Luke Yarid. A graveside service to celebrate Mrs. Chidester’s life was held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Elmhurst Cemetery, with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Ramp Ministry at 132 Heard Street, Elberton, GA 30635, or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements for Mrs. Frances Chidester were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
