Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Johnson Davis, 78, of Petersburg Towers, Elberton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Davis was born in Wilkes County to the late Ralph Thomas and Janie Lee Davis Johnson.She was widowed after 33 years of marriage to the late Thomas Ray Davis.Mrs. Davis worked as a seamstress for Elberton Manufacturing before retiring and was a member of Flatwoods Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Davis is survived by her children: Faye Yearwood and her husband Guy,Sammy Davis, Carolyn Higginbotham, and Tommy Wood;three grandchildren: Cindy Childs, Beth Seymour, and Pete Higginbotham;five great-grandchildren;and four great-great-grandchildren, with two more due in August.She also leaves behind three sisters: Betty Ivester, Helen Johnson, and Vera Ingram;and two brothers: Tommy Johnson and Alvin Johnson. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Ray Davis, and a brother, Cecil Johnson. A service to celebrate Mrs. Davis’ life will be held Friday, February 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, Elberton with Rev. Phillip Hart officiating.A time of visitation will be Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.Interment will be at Elmhurst Cemetery. Flowers will graciously be accepted.
