Frances Ridgway Roberts

Frances Ridgway Roberts, 97 years of age,passed on Friday, October 26, 2012. Frances was born on August 4, 1915 in Royston, Georgia to the late Lemuel M. and Blanche Ridgway. She was the oldest of four children. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jimmy and Gloria Langford. Frances was preceded in death by two sisters, Eugenia Mattox and Betty McGarity. Frances was married to Charles Roberts her husband of 65 years on December 8, 1935. Together they raised four children, two daughters Betty Payne and Susan Roberts and two sons, Edwin Roberts and Charles Eugene Roberts, Jr. Frances was a member of Elberton First Presbyterian Church. She served faithfully for over 65 years. She loved working in the church and cherished serving the Lord. Frances was active in the community taking part in many civic organizations. Marriage and family were always her priority. She worked diligently to provide a loving home for her husband, children and grandchildren. Frances was a loving and caring person, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. All that knew her considered it a blessing to call her friend. Frances leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children; Edwin, Susan, Charles and Betty. Also two daughters-in law Ruth and Cynthia Roberts as well as her many grandchildren and one special great-great grandchild Makayla McKnight who brought much joy and laughter to Frances also establishing a fifth generation in the family. Graveside services for Mrs.Roberts were held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Elmhurst Cemetery, Elberton Georgia.
