Frances Wansley Gilbert

Frances Wansley Gilbert, 96, of 397 Elm Street, Elberton, GA, wife of the late Tom H. Gilbert, Sr., passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospice House in Bogart, GA. Frances was born November 13, 1916 in Elberton, GA to the late Thomas Quinn Wansley and Fannie Maxwell Wansley. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton where she was recognized for 50 years of service as a Sunday School Teacher for Junior Boys. Mrs. Gilbert was also a member of the Elbert Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a Pink Lady. Mrs. Gilbert enjoyed china painting, crossword puzzles, playing Swedish Rummy and teaching Bridge to retirees. Above all, "Grandma" throughly enjoyed summer visits from her five grandchildren. Left to cherish her memories are daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Rudy Lumpkin of Winder, GA; sons, Tom H. Gilbert, Jr. of Conway, SC and Don Gilbert of Elberton, GA; five grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan and Rhonda Lumpkin of Jefferson, GA, Jarrod and Kim Lumpkin of Woodstock, GA, Traci and Greg Stafford of Charlotte, NC, Brooke and Bob Gately of Seattle, WA, Dr. Kelle and Dr. Jason Siegmund of Myrtle Beach, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Tate Siegmund. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Wansley Findley. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 11AM Friday, August 23, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in Elmhurst Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10-11AM Friday prior to the service.
