Gary Jimmy Bennett

Mr. Gary Jimmy Bennett, age 60, of Anderson Highway, Elberton, husband of Barbara Ann Burry Bennett, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Gary was born in Royston on October 5, 1960, son of Malvine Jordan Bennett and the late Jimmy Odell Bennett. He was a truck driver in the granite industry and a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church. Gary was an avid nascar enthusiast who especially loved Bill Elliott. He enjoyed WWE, old country music, and most of all being with his family.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and mother, include his daughters: Corbin and Jay Anderson, Blair and Rusty Burdette, and Kelly and Lance Johnson; daughter-in-law, Merci and Jimmy Hunter; siblings: Michael and Janet Bennett, Becky and Eric Johanson, Janet Reagin, and Donnie Bennett; grandchildren: Silas Anderson, Braxton Burdette, Georgia Phillips, Brylie Burdette, Amelia Phillips, Brinson Burdette, Brody Burdette, Ansley Hunter, Kane Hunter, and Lawton Johnson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his son, Brent Phillips; and brother, Odell Bennett.

Memorial services celebrating Gary’s life will be held on Sunday, November 29, at 3 o’clock at Rock Branch Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Vaughn officiating.

Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in his memory to Friends Helping Friends Club, T.J. & Friends Foundation, Rock Branch Baptist Church, or to the Parkinson’s Association.
