George Leo Smith

Mr. George Leo Smith, 69, of Lexington Highway, Elberton, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital.

Mr. Smith was born May 24, 1953, in Elberton, GA to Richard Herndon Smith, Sr. and Mandy Margaret King Smith. He was a retired stone cutter and an Army National Guard veteran.

He is survived by his wife, April Beard Smith; children: Kelley Smith and Stacy Williams of Elberton, GA, Jason and Stephanie Smith of Elberton, GA, Kyle Saxon of Elberton, GA, ad Brandi and Tyler Harrison of Sylva, NC; siblings: Sarah Mae Seigler of Elberton, GA, Deanie Wilhite of Powder Springs, GA, and Doug Smith of Elberton, GA; fourteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Richard Herndon Smith, Jr. and James Alton Smith.

Mr. Smith’s wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
