George Lewis Allen was send as a blessing to the earth on Tuesday, April 3, 1951, the son of the late George Allen and the late Ollie Lue Davis Allen. He entered the gates of eternity on Thursday, May 6, 2021. George was born and raised in Elberton and attended Elbert County Schools.
At an early age, he joined Vance Creek Baptist Church and later joined Love In Action Christian Outreach Center, where he served as a deacon.
George worked for Republic Granite for many years. He gave himself to his community and to his church family. His laughs and jokes for others was evident by the love that he shared with his family and friends. His hobbies were enjoying time on his porch, playing slot machines, and making others laugh.
George found loved when he met and married his wife of 34 years, the late Theodora Bowman Allen, with whom he has been reunited. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Claude Allen, Mary Bennett, and Seabian Allen.
His memories will be cherished by his daughter, Mrs. Kim (Jamie) Fortson; son, Mr. Kozmo Bowman; siblings: Mrs. Betty Hill, Mrs. Josephine Calhoun, Mrs. Peggy Cleveland, Miss Loeitha Allen, Mrs. Susie Ardister, Miss Alma Allen, and Mr. Kelly Allen; in-laws: Mr. Willie (Marilyn) Bowman, Mrs. Sally Elaine (Richard) Allen, Mrs. Geneva Ann (Billy) Jones, Mr. Jackie (Evelyn) Bowman, and Mrs. Sally Bowman; grandchildren: Miss Rachel Fortson, Miss Gabby Fortson, Miss Trinnity Bowman, Mr. Altraveon Bowman, and Mr. Kozmo Bowman, II; aunts: Mrs. Donia Davis, Mrs. Bobbie Jean Allen, Mrs. Zelma Allen, and Mrs. Mamie Lou Allen; close friends: Mr. Joe Hood, Mr. Marty Harper, Mr. Rusty Woodall, Mr. Jerry Glaze, Mr. Nap Dye, Mr. Cheese Johnson, and Minister Renick Robertson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 2PM, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Love in Action Christian Outreach Center. Interment will be in Lincoln Heights Cemetery.
