Mr. Gerald Eugene Toole, 68, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.Born in Aiken, South Carolina, Mr. Toole was the son of the late Felder and Cora Mae Smith Toole.He was preceded in death by three siblings, Lenwood Toole, Lavern Toole, and Michael Toole.He was a graduate of LBC High School in Bath, South Carolina. Mr. Toole had celebrated 20 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carla Almond Toole.He was employed as a Boiler Operator for Augusta Newsprint and also served as a volunteer firefighter for many communities.He was a member of Belvedere First Baptist Church. Lovingly known as “Big Daddy”, Mr. Toole was a caring father who loved his family dearly.He was actively involved in his children’s lives including coaching his daughters’ sports teams, and being present at their activities as they grew up.He was a great storyteller, loved gardening, and was an avid Clemson Tiger fan.He will always be remembered as a wonderful loving man and best friend. In addition to his wife, Carla, Mr. Toole is survived by two daughters: Kristen Buice (Jason) of Aiken, SC, and Felice Cato (David) of North Augusta, SC; two stepsons: Blake Burton and Brad Burton (Julie) all of Elberton.He also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Brianna and Evan Jones, Jackson and Kylie Buice, Liberty Burnette, Cadence Burnette, Isabella Burton, Ruby Grace Burton, Blakely Burton, and Ethan Smith;siblings: Annette Hart, Joyce Jackson, Donald Toole, and Ronald Toole; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Mr. Toole’s life was held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Baston officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys For Kids, sponsored by Elberton Fire Department @ 202 S. Thomas St., Elberton, GA 30635, in memory of Mr. Toole.
