Geraldine Brown Smith

Mrs. Sara Geraldine Brown Smith, 83, of Sand Hill Road, Bowman, wife of 50 years to the late Herman Miller Smith, passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born in Bowman on July 1, 1935, daughter of the late John Emory Brown and Cariene Elizabeth Scoggins Brown. She was a weaver having retired from J.P. Stephens in Calhoun Falls and a self-employed caterer. She was a dedicated member of Deep Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Debbie Smith of Bowman; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Wayne Barger of Elberton; siblings: Rebecca Johnson, Deborah Bell, Linda Pless, and Milford Brown; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Douglas Brown.

Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 14, at 2 o’clock from the Deep Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family is at their respective homes and will greet friends at the church from 1:00-1:45p.m. on Friday prior to the service.
