Geraldine Fontes "Jerry" Shell, 70, of 240 Hobbs Street, Royston, formerly of Elberton, widow of John Rodney Shell, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Shell was born in Sacremento, California, May 6, 1941, to the late Jim and Georgina Silva Fontes. She was a cutler and designer at Atlanta Awning Company. Left to cherish her memories are her children, Kemmie C. Duncan of Royston and Bobby Glenn Miller of Atlanta; siblings, Sally Fontes French of West Virginia, Alfred Fontes, and Johnny Fontes, both of California; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Lyndale C. Miller. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 3PM Saturday, March 24, in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with Curt Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park with Brandon WIlliams, Christopher Duncan, Tracy Stowe, Bradley Carey, Elton McIntosh, and Casey Richardson serving as pallbearers. The Shell family is at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service from 2-3PM.
