Gloria Ann Edwards Childs

Mrs. Gloria Ann Edwards Childs, 83, of Childston Drive, Elberton, wife of Roger Owen Childs, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Childs was born in Elberton on April 10, 1940, the second of four children of George Wallace Edwards, Sr. and Marjorie Lucyle Dye Edwards. She was a bookkeeper having worked for many granite companies as well as with her husband at Childs Pulpwood Company. Gloria was proudly a charter member of Lake Russell Baptist Church. She enjoyed the simple things in life, and never missed an opportunity to dig in the dirt while working in her flower gardens.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Natalie Ann Childs Ragon; sister, Beth Wallis; and brother-in-law, Manuel Fernandez.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years Roger; granddaughter, Haley Ragon of Raleigh, NC; siblings: Iris Fernandez of Elberton and Wallace and Joellyn Edwards of Elberton; sisters-in-law: Linda and Jerry Madden of Elberton and Nancy Jo and John Payne of Oglethorpe County; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services celebrating Gloria's life will be held on Monday, December 4, at 3.m. at Bethel E Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Scott Mize, granddaughter Haley Ragon and niece Laura McTier officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
