Mrs. Grace Howell Veal, 91, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Elbert Memorial Hospital. A native of Elbert County, Mrs. Veal was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Howell, Jr. and Ada Brown Howell.She worked throughout her career as a secretary for the Elbert County Board of Education. She was the wife ofthe late Connally Hammond Veal.Mrs. Veal was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Elberton, and had served faithfully as the treasurer of The Friendship Sunday School Class, and also as a member of The Women’s Missionary Union there. Survivors include her son, Connally Veal, Jr. of Bowman; and grandchildren, Candice Veal of Winterville, and Trey Veal, of Bowman.She also leaves behind a brother, Walton Howell of Elberton; a sister, Bobbie Kirkland of Winterpark, FL; and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Mrs. Veal’s life was held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Elberton, with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating.A time of visitation began at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service.Interment followed in Elmhurst Cemetery. Flowers will be graciously accepted, or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 132 Heard St., Elberton, GA 30635.
