Guy Allmon Lance

Mr. Guy Allmon Lance, 73, of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022.

He was the son of the late Boyce Patterson Lance, Sr. and Sara Bell Lance, and was also preceded in death by his brothers: Boyce Lance, Jr. and Chris Lance; and sister, Sara Dees.

Born in Washington, Guy graduated from Washington-Wilkes High School, Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College, and Georgia Southern College. He worked as a teacher, coach, and owned two businesses in his lifetime. Guy was a real estate broker for 25 years in Oglethorpe County. He was an active member of the community, having served on the Lexington City Council, Oglethorpe County Board of Education, and a charter member of the Oglethorpe County Chapter of Rotary International. Guy was of the Christian faith and centered his life around that faith, family, and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Shoemaker Lance; his children: Kurk (Janet) Lance of Athens, Brian (Amy) Lance of Crawford, and Jennifer (Al) Yauck) of Crawford; his grandchildren: Julia Lance, Nathanial Lance, Catherine Yauck; and his siblings: Clarence Lance, Willard Lance, and John Lance.

At Guy’s request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family ask those wishing to make a donation in his memory do so to the American Heart Association, the Winship Cancer Institute, or Doctors Without Borders.
