Gwendolyn Elaine Ray Maxwell, born on January 13, 1945, who was a born again Christian and faithfully loved and served her Lord at the Dewy Rose Outreach Ministries, entered into rest on January 27, 2020.
She was the wife of Joe C. Maxwell and they lived in the Rehoboth Community of Bowman. She was a devoted mother to two children: Mike and Rita Maxwell of Bowman and Donna and Greg Webb of Dewy Rose. Her grandchildren, the sunshine of her life, were: Leanda Vaughn, Micah Lovinggood, Amber Campbell, Steven Webb, and Nathan Webb, and they blessed her with seven great-grandchildren. Her brother, Donald W. Ray of Lyons, also survives. She is preceded in death by her parents, Steve Snow Ray and Illa Vatava Brooks Ray; and brother, Billy D. Ray.
Gwen was employed in the nursing home industry for 25 years, and loved working with the elderly. In later life, she worked part-time as Courier for Pinnacle Bank.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, February 1, at 10 o’clock at Deep Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is at the home of Greg and Donna Webb, Nickville Road, Dewy Rose, and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 5:30-7:30p.m. on Friday evening.
Flowers are accepted and contributions may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
